Pendulum runs in the background once you set it up. Most merchants spend about ten minutes on first-time configuration and then never touch the settings again. Here is the order we recommend.
1. Fill in your brand
Open Brand settings in the Pendulum app. Set your company name, address, phone, and the reply-to email where customer responses should land. Upload your logo. If you have a light wordmark (good on dark backgrounds) upload that too. Pick or build your theme colors in the live preview.
Full walkthrough: Brand settings.
2. Set your reminder cadence
Open Reminders. The default cadence is 3 days, 7 days, and 14 days after the invoice due date. Adjust to whatever fits your business. Disable steps you don't want.

3. Customize your reminder template (optional)
Open Reminder templates. Pick a tone (Friendly, Firm, Urgent) and the editor generates starter copy. Edit it however you like. Variables like {{customer_name}} and {{amount}} get filled in at send time.
Full walkthrough: Email templates.
4. Paste the Shopify notification templates
Open Notifications in Pendulum. There are two templates to paste into Shopify admin: order confirmation and draft invoice. Each one replaces the default Shopify template with a Pendulum-branded version that includes a PDF download button and your brand colors.
- Click Copy on the order confirmation template in Pendulum.
- In Shopify admin, open
Settings > Notifications > Order confirmationand click Edit code. - Right-click in the code area, pick Select all, then Delete. Paste the Pendulum template.
- Save. Repeat for the draft invoice template.

5. Send a test invoice
Create a draft order in Shopify with your own email as the customer. Click Send invoice in Shopify. You should receive the Pendulum-branded draft invoice email with the PDF download button. If that looks right, you're done with setup.
Optional next steps
- Pro plan only. Verified sender lets reminder emails come from your own domain instead of
invoices@penduluminvoices.com. - Pro plan only. Outbound webhooks fire JSON events to your CRM, ERP, or Zapier when invoices are created, paid, or overdue.
